Cranksgiving in June 2009
While I always wish for more folks at races, I think this was an impressive haul: nine riders collected 815 pounds of food for Food Gatherers, the food bank for Washtenaw County. Sharing the prize for largest haul is Pieter Kleymeer and Jimmy Ragget with 325 pounds (a team average of 162.5 pounds). Sharing the prize for Best Budget Haul (most pounds gathered for dollars spent) are Jim and Forrest Karnopp with a total of 93 pounds of food in 41.35 dollars for 2.25 lbs/$. The People's Choice Haul went to Andy Hromadka, the only person not in a team who brought in 72 pounds of food solo.
| Name | Lbs Total / Lbs Avg | lbs/dollar |
| Adam Say / Matt Churches | 218 / 109 | 1.95 |
| Jimmy Raggett / Pieter Kleymeer | 325 / 162.5 | 1.87 |
| Jim and Forrest Karnopp | 93 / 46.5 | 2.25 |
| Luke Robinson / Nick TenBrink | 107 / 53.5 | 1.77 |
| Andy Hromadka | 72 / 72 | 2.14 |
Many thanks go out to the sponsors who sent us prizes: The Ann Arbor Chronicle, Urban Velo and Yancopads.

Cranksgiving in June
You've probably heard of Cranksgiving, races held each year near Thanksgiving to collect food to donate to local food banks. Ypsi Velo has been happy to help out with the local Cranksgiving the past two years, the last of which brought in an impressive half-ton of food for Food Gatherers.
Food Gatherers, the food bank for Washtenaw County, sees a lot of generosity around the holidays at the end of the year, but the need for donations is high year around, especially now. With that in mind, Ypsi Velo decided to hold a Cranksgiving in June, the same idea, just earlier in the year.
- Where: Recreation Park
Corner of N. Congress and Oakwood St.
Ypsilanti, MI - When: June 27, 2009, 6 - 8 pm
- What: You'll have two hours to race to local grocery stores and buy food for Food Gatherers.
- Bring:A bicycle, a bag (or trailer!) and money for food
- Ride safe: helmets and lights recommended
- See the Facebook event.
Links to signs and various media can be found here. For more information, contact info@ypsivelo.org.
Note: are you a business or organization that is wanting to help out with Cranksgiving in June? Ypsi Velo is looking for anything we can use as prizes for racers. Send us an e-mail if you are interested to info@ypsivelo.org.

Hell Yes Sprints
I forgot to mention this, but you're in luck. Hell Yes and the folks from Fixed Gear Gallery are touring and holding goldsprints competitions. They were at the Blind Pig in our suburb to the west on the 9th, but they'll be back on the 23rd.
If you want to see what you missed, and what you won't want to miss on the 23rd, there's a nice writeup on it in the Ann Arbor Chronicle, and there's some photos I took of it here.

Excellent race, and for the most part, things went well. And we even managed to go through four dozen doughnuts from Dexter Cider Mill (and I'm glad I called to order them the day before, since I didn't know the 11th was Dexter Cider Dayze....)
Luke and I would like to thank everyone who came out and the folks at Yancopads for getting us swag on time. We'd also especially like to thank Nick Tenbrink, Ryan Patrick, and Luke's friend whose name I always forget for volunteering to run checkpoints.
We've got an idea for a spring race. Until then, be sure to check out Night of the Living Tread III and Cranksgiving, both over there on the right side.
